![]() ![]() I saw the film two months ago and ngl, I’m kind of obsessed about it. The eye drops signifying myopia as a replacement for vertigo signifying existential disorientation is genuinely clever though. I need to rewatch this one, maybe I'll appreciate it more when I know where its going. So, you know, its all extremely well made and its doing what it wants to do very well, and I'm just kind of annoyed by it? I want the ambiguities of Seo-rae's character to feel like something true about her and after first viewing I felt more like they existed to drag Hae-jun through a series of emotional states. My first reaction was that I wanted 20 more minutes throughout the film putting us inside her head, helping us understand her decisions and why, at the end, she chooses to die, but on the balance I do get that doing something like that would undercut the way that her unreadability, to both Hae-jun and by proxy to us the audience, turns her into a crucible for Hae-jun and that's sort of the entire point of the movie. I understand Seo-rae's relationship to every man in her life, but I don't understand her relationship to herself.
